WAYNE’S WILL

Wayne Richter is committed to restoring calm and common sense to our political system by pursuing what’s right rather than what’s routine.  In Florida's House of Representatives, he’ll advocate for rational policies focused on improving our quality of life and lowering our cost of living.  Wayne will provide the Treasure Coast with intellectually independent representation, not partisan posturing.

WAYNE’S VALUES

Wayne's values are rooted in his faith, his chosen professional field of law and his family.  The son of a Methodist minister and a mother who worked full-time for the Florida Turnpike Administration, Wayne was raised to recognize and respect the humanity of others while exercising his faith through practical action.  Wayne’s legal education and professional life as an attorney have informed his understanding of the interplay between our individual liberty, our freedom’s limitations and our shared duty to advance the public good.  The blessings bestowed upon him as a husband and a father have furnished him with an appreciation of the importance of compromise, humility, long-term planning and that which we owe the next generation.  Wayne is a Democrat who believes in the wisdom of the governing principles of the United States Constitution, along with the sanctity of the rights therein enshrined.  He believes in the dignity of work and the boundless potential of mankind’s capacity for compassion.

WAYNE’S WAY

As a lawmaker, Wayne will approach the issues facing all of us with the grace, rationality and tact for which he is known among his friends, neighbors and colleagues.  That means transcending the antagonism, small-mindedness and self-delusion corroding our political system to confront the problems we share in common through responsible governance.  The Florida Legislature convenes for just 60 days a year.  Threats to the Treasure Coast’s prosperity and well-being work around the clock.  Wayne is not a man with time to waste.

He'll work collaboratively – and across the aisle – to enact measures lowering the costs of energy, groceries and housing; spurring job growth; bolstering and renewing the vitality of our democracy; bringing property insurance rates to heel; expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare; strengthening Florida’s public schools and vocational programs; capping the number of out-of-state enrollees at public colleges and universities; enhancing water quality and protecting the natural environment; managing growth by reinstating the zoning authority of local governments; cracking down on crime, supporting law enforcement and fostering community engagement on public safety priorities; furthering workers’ rights; and augmenting mental health as well as substance abuse treatment programs.

Wayne and his wife, Katie, live and work in Palm City.  They share two daughters, Claire and Kara, along with a son, John.  Their family enjoys spending time together on the waters of the Indian River Lagoon and rooting for the Miami Dolphins (who should start beefing up their offensive line and stop churning the rumor mill about Tua’s dead cap).

Outside of running their own law practice, which Katie administers as much more than the world’s most competent paralegal, Wayne serves as the treasurer of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  His civic involvement additionally includes stints as president of the Martin County Bar Association and president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s North County Section.  Wayne holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Florida Southern College in Lakeland and a law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston.  The Richter Family are professing members of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart.

Paid by Wayne Richter, Democrat, for State Representative.
